BANK´S CENTENARY PARTY KICKS OFF WITH PRESENTS
Thursday the 22nd February 2007
A beautiful day with sunshine, here in Zürich.
An office of the UN system dealing with human rights issue was opened in Fiji
in 2005 of which the regional representative is Paulo David.
This is an excerpt of an interview by Fiji Times journalist, Verenaisi
Raicola with the UN Pacific Human Rights Commissioner, Paulo David. .As it
appears today on www.fijitimes.com
Times – Is there a time frame given on when the complainant would
receive a feedback from the UN?
Paulo David- It depends on which cases are following up because all
cases are referred to Geneva but usually it takes a year. All this is based
on the goodwill of local authorities to cooperate in resolving the case. All
these reports by special repertoires will be made public to the human rights
council. These reports are accessible on the UN website and all countries
case summaries will be available a year after they are lodged.

Any news on global-warming is in my opinion always worth talking about as it
affects us all beings and sundry on this planet one way or another.
Saying that we the most advanced animal species (humans) are creating our own
trash which is not only affecting us but also the sub-species (flora and fauna)
through no fault of theirs I really and truly believe we the descendants of Adam
and Eve or the refined version of Neanderthal are to cop the blame. The question
is how can we contribute in minimizing this global warming?
Maybe shut down or turn off any electrical appliance when not in use. Walk to
and from work or wherever. Use stairs and not lifts and escalators. Ban smoking
once and for all (is that asking too much?)
I could go on till doomsday but there are at least one or some things we can
do to assist in trying to close the gap on this glaring reality.
