Bulagirl's blog - April 2007Monday the 30th April 2007It's the last day of the month yet again. Today is the eve of another public holiday here in Zürich and some other cantons, namely "Tag der Arbeit" or Labour Day. Time just seems to flash by…yeah, before you know it…it's the end of the year again. Too dam' right…TIME AND TIDE WAITS FOR NO MAN…Clock keeps ticking, so do what you have to do like there's no tomorrow. We all have our plans and aspirations for the future but make the most of what you have and can do right here and now….`cause you'll never know what tomorrow brings. Pessimism, no…realism, yes. Check out 2 of today´s topics….KLEINFELD´S DEMISE Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Sunday the 29th April 2007Yeah, the sun is out again in all it's prime and glory, as you might have guessed… Another BBQ by "der Wald oder dem See". Which one we will see later. Saturday the 28th April 2007A trip to IKEA and Interio in Spreitenbach for the purchase of our 2nd BBQ set(portable). The 1st set is for open-fire BBQ. Lots of out-door BBQ's these days. Just putting the longer daylight hours to full use amongst other activities. Also met Ivan (Dani's work-mate) and his 2 lovely kids. Witnessed some football via Igor and his mates (they won) and finally his dad drives us home. BBQ by the lake this afternoon with Bulaman getting annoyed with a kid and a second person for disrupting his webbed-feet comrades `Wandern´. One typical bula-man yell, is enough to scare them off…..but no, his bark is much, much worse than his bite. Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Friday the 27th April 2007Had some sun here in Zürich but with some afternoon showers. Great way to cool off…a rain bath. Headlines and related news on

www.swissinfo.org Sunday the 22nd April 2007Another pleasant sunny day. Had brunch via a BBQ at our new-found picnic spot. We love this area, 'cause it's more laid back and reminds us a lot of our trips to Namosi woodlands in Fiji for the same purpose. Headlines and related news on www.swissinfo.org BAN ON ARMY FIREARMS AT HOME WINS SUPPORT Saturday the 21st April 2007A sunny day with clear, blue skies here in Zürich. Friday the 20th April 2007It's back to being sunny and beautiful today. Today is also WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY. The theme this year is: THE WORLD WE WANT. www.swissinfo.org Thursday the 19th April 2007Starts off as a cool morning but the sun did come out later, Headlines and related news on..www.swissinfo.org Wednesday the 18th April 2007Kicks off as a rather overcast day but it's most likely the sun will make its grand appearance later. Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Tuesday the 17th April 2007Another glorious, sunny day. Yesterday's SECHSELAÜTEN (6 bells), saw BÖÖGGI´S head pop off exactly after 12mins 09secs. According to tradition, the faster Böögg decapitates the better the summer conditions will be. This year, they say, signifies a moderate summer. Böögg's predictions have somewhat been contradictory in past years, e.g. in 1971 it exploded in just 5mins but the average temperature over the summer in that year was a middling 16.8°C. In 1970 and 1985, it popped off after 40mins, thus predicting a miserable summer. However, the average summer temperatures of these 2 yrs were 16.8°C and 16.9°C respectively, which were average. Böögg has shown hardly any evidence that he's sensitive to global warming. In my opinion, again it comes down to your belief…..your scientific theory or traditional blissfull mentality. Choice is yours. Hubby and I watched the whole parade right up to Böögg losing his head (literally) via TV. Another indiscriminate senseless shooting spree in Virginia Tech, USA, and the worst to date. Innocent lives lost `cause of some lunatic gone berserk. Gets me wondering, is any place safe these days? Yeah, risk is everywhere and anywhere We just have to be vigilant and alert, but then again these atrocities always happen when you least expect it and when your guard is down. Condolences to the family and friends of victims of yet another tragic gun-fire carnage. Killer was later identified as a South Korean national, also a resident student of the same institution. Pay a fine for spitting here in Zürich, another positive step. What if you involuntarily cough up some phlegm and have to eject it immediately or risk being choked to death? Carry a mobile spittoon with you via a handkerchief or a small plastic jar. We all carry excess weight around by way of phones, headphones, etc., so why not a small spitting box, i.e. if you don’t want to risk paying a fine of SF30,for just spitting. www.swissinfo.org Monday the 16th April 2007Another great day of warm sunshine. Das "Kind" ist diesen Morgen nach Giswil zurück gegangen. Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Sunday the 15th April 2007What can you say about the weather…Awesome with a lot of sunshine and outdoor ventures. The trio hangs out again at the same spot as yesterday for a barbecue and some ball-kicking. A black, female canine by the name of Nikita, according to her tag, decides to join us for some ball-chasing. She ultimately steals the show as we couldn't wrench the ball from her for a good 15mins. Three against one, hilarious, anyway we somehow enjoyed her brief visit. Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Saturday the 14th April 2007With the sun out now in all it's glory, people are stripping down more to appropriate attire. The male species of the family go out for a barbecue and swim in a smaller lake by the edge of the woods. The lady of the house prefers some quiet time meditating indoors. www.swissinfo.org Friday the 13th April 2007The number 13 is ominous to a lot of people. Avoiding flights on Black Friday, not sitting down to a table of 13 people and a lot more It just comes down to your belief. To me it's a load of crap, if anything sinister happens on the day, I put it down as 'mere coincidental'. Another sunny day here in Zürich. Bulaman feels fit enough to rejoin the rat-race today. The bombing of the Iraqi Parliament Building, what next? When the very core of Baghdad's fortified so called 'Green Zone' is able to be penetrated, is scary. Dysfunctional security systems and what have you all add to the perpetrators advantage to infiltrate and leave their marks, literally, i.e. Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Thursday the 12th April 2007The sun makes its mark again today as we slowly gear into warmer days. Ticino in the south of Switzerland, has set the pace for banning smoking in specified places. This is definitely a positive move which I'm sure the other cantons will follow suit in the near future. .Good news for non-smokers who constantly have to endure the discomfit of being passive smokers. Headlines and related stories on
www.swissinfo.org Wednesday the 11th April 2007Another gorgeous sunny day here in Zürich. Bulaman decides to visit the "arzt" today for some professional advice. Seems he got the infamous 'noro virus'. Headlines and related news on ..www.swissinfo.org Tuesday the 10th April 2007Headlines and related stories on
www.swissinfo.org Monday the 9th April 2007Sun is out and it's a beautiful day. Bulaman has fallen ill today with a slight fever. Those swans and ducks down by the lake shall be sorely missing his company today. The trio shall be more or less glued to the TV and PC for anything and everything. Headlines and related news on
www.swissinfo.org Sunday the 8th April 2007A rather drab day as compared to the last 2 days of sun. Could change for the better later on. But the good news: Fiji won the Adelaide Sevens, they beat Samoa in the final Headlines and related stories on
www.swissinfo.org Saturday the 7th April 2007Another sunny day here in Zürich. A lot of outdoor activities now as we have longer daylight hours. Hanging out by the lake, picnicing or cruising on the lake-boats or whatever is definitely the rule of this gorgeous day. Today is also WORLD HEALTH DAY as observed by United Nations. It is an occasion to raise awareness of key global health issues. This year's theme is INTERNATIONAL HEALTH SECURITY. Aim of the day is to urge governments, organizations and businesses to invest in health, thus building a safe future. Friday the 6th April 2007A terrific beautiful day. Bluest sky, sun, about 20° C warm. Bulaman plays the Easter bunny and hides some eggs in the garden. Bulaboy finds them all, but is still looking for more stuff. We later go out to the lake and play with small rubber balls that bounce (actually, we lost a few of them on the roof of the lake bath "Mythenquai". Thursday the 5th April 2007Natural disasters in any form is always life-threatening and disastrous. Life is most important. Should you have to abandon all worldly possessions to save your life, please do exactly that. We have only one life (biologically, i.e.). Material stuff can be lost today and replaced tomorrow So always prioritise your life in such situations. Cyclone Cliff leaves a trail of destruction in Vanua Levu and the northern Lau Group, Fiji. To all those affected in any way, our prayers are with you. It's Maunday Thursday or Holy Thursday. Gearing to be a pleasant day, here in Zürich. Headlines and related news on
