...das Paradies ist noch nicht verloren

Bulagirl's blog - May 2007

Thursday the 31st May 2007

It's a gloomy rainy morning here in Zürich. The sun did come out later.

Yes, the end of yet another month and we’re half way thru´ the year…last Xmas just seems like it was here last month. Yeah, time and tide waits for no man.

It’ s WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY, as observed by the UN.

The right to clean air-free from tobacco smoke-is a human right. Most people and non-. smokers have the right not to be exposed to other people's smoke.

As we observe this day we draw public attention to the `tobacco epidemic´ and the preventable deaths from tobacco-related illnesses by campaigning for a smoke-free environment in our homes, communities, schools and work-places

For all the smoke-free campaigns via slogans, lectures, etc at the end of the day, it still comes down to the actual smoker to bloody well do something about it. As the saying goes…you can take the donkey down the river for a drink but it WON´T drink if it DOESN´T want to. Provide all the tools but if the smoker decides to throw it all back in your face, can't do much, can you?

Overcast morning, and quite windy too. That didn't stop us from going to our favourite BBQ spot. Late afternoon the sun did come out. Robert caught a small fish which didn't escape the BBQ grill. I had the head and him the tail. Bulaman found it all rather disgusting. He will never survive if thrown into a jungle.

It's an overcast morning but it could clear later. The sun did finally illuminate Zürich around mid-morning. A bomb threat this afternoon here in Zürich, and Bahnhofstrasse (Zürich's main street) is sealed off diverting all public transport via other routes. Can't afford to take any threats lightly these days.

The UN is observing today as International Day For Biological Diversity, which complements the designation of 2007as the International Polar Year and coincides with UNEP's World Environment Day theme of Climate Change.

The solar entity is out thus another ideal day for further outdoor activities. A must for sun-worshippers and `tannomaniacs´ or tan-freaks. So much for body image, Switzerland has one of the highest skin-cancer statistics in Europe. Loads of sun-screen cream a hat and good pair of sunglasses could delay the process. Common sense should not be ruled out, sun-bathe within a time-frame and don't overdo it.

Again, we went to our BBQ spot on the lake. However, it was already taken. So we set up camp about 20 meters away from the favourite grill place. Very sunny, a lot of people frolicking in the sun with their game toys.

Saturday the 12th of May 2007

The day started off as rather dull but it did turn out sunny later Yours truly and I had BBQ by the lake and our webbed-feet friends actually waddled 50yards from the lake to our picnic spot for some reserved leftover bread.

Sun is out, and it´s going to be a pleasant day.

Went to Beyoncé Knowles concert last nite. With her all-girl band and a handful of male dancers it was a night I could easily forget. In my opinion, shows of this nature are judged by the reaction of the audience….the crowd, young as it was, just didn´t seem to have that response or oomph. Of course. the time factor of starting 1hr late but then a solid almost 2 hrs of non-stop entertainment , probably made up for that. Bottom line…not really my style of music Would have preferred rock, soul or blues music By the way my ticket to this show was a birthday gift, so for that 101% gratitude to the giver. I understand your naivety in not knowing my tastes (you do!)…but I did rock in my seat , irrespective!!!
